1. Introduction

ToyHuntr ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and services.

By using ToyHuntr, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, do not use our services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account information (email address, display name, profile photo)
• Collection data (items, photos, condition notes, pricing information)
• Profile information (bio, location, favorite categories)
• Support communications and feedback
• Syndicate content when you opt in, including feed posts, captions, photos, comments, reactions, direct messages, group chat messages, and reports you submit
• Social graph data such as follows, friends, and friend requests
• Syndicate and privacy preferences (for example, whether to show your display name in the feed or at conventions, and whether to accept friend requests)

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

• Device information (device type, operating system, unique device identifiers)
• Usage data (features used, time spent in app, interaction patterns)
• Location data (if you enable location services for location-based features)
• Crash reports and performance data
• Syndicate interaction data (for example, feed views, message delivery metadata, and notification engagement)

2.3 Syndicate (Social Features)

Syndicate is ToyHuntr's optional social layer. You are not required to use Syndicate to manage collections, use RADR, or use other non-social features. If you choose to join Syndicate, we collect and process the information needed to operate the Feed, Discover, Messages, and Convention Group Chat features, including:

• Your HuntrID and, if you enable the setting, your display name on Syndicate surfaces
• Posts, images, captions, comments, and reactions you create or receive
• Direct and group messages, including convention group chats you join
• Follow, friend, and discovery activity, including leaderboard and trending participation
• Reports you file about posts, profiles, or messages
• A consent record when you agree to Community Standards (version, timestamp, and platform)

By default, other users see your HuntrID in Syndicate. If you turn on "Show my name in Syndicate feed" or "Show my name at conventions" in app settings, we may also show your display name on those surfaces.

2.4 Photos, Camera, Barcode, and Search Assistance

If you choose to use optional features that rely on your camera or photo library, we process images and related data only as needed to provide those features:

• Barcode scanning: The app may use your device camera to read product barcodes (such as UPC or EAN). Decoding typically happens on your device. When you use barcode-based search or catalog features, we may send the scanned code (not the raw image) to our backend or partners to retrieve product or listing information.
• Photo-based search and identification (where available): If you submit a photo (from your camera or library), the image may be sent securely to our servers and then to OpenAI (or similar providers we use) to generate text descriptions or structured item details to help you search or pre-fill collection fields. OpenAI processes those images under its own policies as a sub-processor.
• Image-based marketplace search (where available): If you use features that search for similar listings using a photo, the image may be sent to eBay (or other marketplace APIs we integrate) according to eBay's terms and privacy policy.

You control whether to use these features. Do not submit photos you are not comfortable sharing with the services above for processing.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our services
• Process your transactions and manage your account
• Send you notifications, updates, and support communications
• Personalize your experience and provide relevant content
• Analyze usage patterns to improve app functionality
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security threats
• Comply with legal obligations
• When you opt in, process photos and barcodes to power search, identification, and catalog-related features as described in Section 2.4
• Operate Syndicate when you opt in, including delivering messages, showing activity to followers, powering Discover and leaderboards, and sending related notifications
• Enforce Community Standards, review reports, and moderate user-generated content in Syndicate

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase, which provides industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With service providers who assist us in operating our app (e.g., Firebase, analytics providers)
• With OpenAI when you use AI-assisted or photo-based features that require image or text analysis (subject to OpenAI's policies)
• With eBay when you use features that query eBay listings, including text or image-based search, subject to eBay's terms and policies
• With ToyHub or similar catalog partners when you use barcode or figure-data features that depend on their databases
• With Google Gemini when you post Syndicate content that is processed for automated safety review (captions and images may be sent for moderation scoring under Google's policies)
• With other ToyHuntr users when you use Syndicate and your privacy settings allow your content or identity to be visible
• To comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests
• To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property
• In connection with a business transfer (merger, acquisition, etc.)
• With your explicit consent

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access and update your personal information through the app settings
• Delete your account and associated data
• Opt out of certain data collection (e.g., location services, analytics)
• Request a copy of your data
• Contact us with privacy-related questions or concerns
• Control Syndicate visibility through in-app Syndicate and Privacy settings, including display name visibility and friend requests
• Report posts, profiles, or messages that violate our Community Standards
• Decline Syndicate consent and continue using non-social ToyHuntr features without joining the social layer

7. Children's Privacy

ToyHuntr is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
